Solve A Math Equation

We have to learn how to solve a math equation especially the algebraic equation.

Example : 1

3x + 2 = 8

To solve this math equation, first of all we have to isolate the terms which contains the variable x.

It is the term 3x which contains the variable x.

In order to isolate the term 3x, we have to take +2 to the other side of the equation.

When +2 is taken to the other side, it will become -2.

3x + 2 = 8

3x = 8 – 2 = 6

3x = 6

Now 3x is alone in its side.

3x = 6

Now we have to isolate x from the constant 3 attached with it.

When 3 is taken to the other side, it will divide there.

3x = 6

x = 6/3 = 2

x = 2

Let us check whether this answer is correct or not.

3x + 2 = 8

Let us apply the value of x in this equation.

(3 x 2) + 2 = 6 + 2 = 8

Since both sides are equal to 8, this answer is correct.

Example : 2

7y – 11 = 38

In order to isolate the term (7y) which contains the variable y, we have to take the constant 11 to the other side of the equation.

7y – 11 = 38

7y = 38 + 11 = 49

7y = 49

y = 49/7 = 7

y = 7

This is the answer.

Let us apply this value in the given equation.

7y – 11 = 38

7(7) – 11 = 49 – 11 = 38

Since both sides are equal to each other, the answer is right one.
